After a playing career that ended with the most prolific scoring numbers in Wisconsin hockey history and an NCAA title, Mike Eaves returned to his alma mater for the 2002–03 season as the fifth coach in the modern era of Badger hockey. Now through four years behind the bench, Eaves has added to his legacy, bringing the program’s sixth NCAA title to Madison. In his fourth season at the helm, Eaves directed his charges during 2005–06 to a dream season. Finishing with a 30-10-3 mark, the squad defeated Boston College, 2-1, at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee for the storied program’s first title in 16 years.
